CoRDS Registry

Kawasaki Disease Foundation Australia has partnered with Sanford Coordination of Rare Diseases (CoRDS) Registry.

This is an international and Central registry of individuals of any age who have been diagnosed with a rare disease. It was primarily developed to meet an unmet need for patient registries worldwide.

If you or a family member has been diagnosed with KD, you can help researchers see the whole picture.

To enrol in the CoRDS registry, or for more information, visit www.sanfordresearch.org/cords

MCG Stadium Stomp

July, 2014

A team made up of employees from the Dandenong, Melbourne, Ballarat and Warrnambol branches of Stringer Clark Lawyers entered a team in the MCG Stadium Stomp to raise funds for the Foundation. They were inspired after reading a story that Brooke Dean from the Warrnambool office wrote about her son who was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease earlier this year. Stringer Clark has 24 branches in Victoria so Brooke's story has raised a lot of awareness of KD.

As a result of their support Brooke herself stomped her way around the stairs of the MCG levels 1+4, incorporating over 7,000 steps before finishing on the ground of the MCG.

We would like to thank the team involved in this event and to everyone who donates on their behalf.

The Melbourne branch recently held a family picnic at Ruffy Lake Park in Doncaster. It was wonderful to have families travel from Bendigo and Geelong.

Dr. Katherine Chen, a paediatrician who is doing a PhD on Kawasaki Disease with Dr. Burgner (our medical advisor) attended and spoke about the latest research study they are conducting.

All who attended found it very beneficial to be able to discuss their KD experience with Dr. Chen and other families.

Quinn Bailey cuts the cake made by his mother Bec

On Valentines Day 2014, Bec Bailey was given the opportunity to run a Fundraiser for the Foundation as part of a Casual dress day at her work. Bec explained how KD had affected her family and made a Heart shaped cake which was well received. She also run a guess the number of heart shaped lollies in the jar and sold some of our pens and wristbands.

We would like to thank Bec for helping raise awareness of Kawasaki Disease and also thank Smart Centre Geelong, Department of Human Services for assisting us in this way.

The following schools have held fundraising events to raise funds for us -

Magill School. S.A - Magill Primary School held a stall on Sports Day. The parents made cupcakes and the children made lucky dips and bracelets to be sold with popcorn at recess.
